How some of the songs were written.

'Mississippi Cowboys' was written from historical facts.

How some of them would ride to a food depot along

the river, then build a barge, load up with food, then sail

down to New Orleans and sell their ware.

'Beautiful  Lullaby'  After hearing a man on the radio

say how he went blind at 40 years old, but was

thankful, he could still remember his children.

'Cowboy Blues'  My first song, used in a local revue

about the Wild West with a group of performers,

of which l was one, for several years.

'lt's Saturday Again'

l thought I'd try and write something like a Chris Rea

song, but it didn't sound anything like his work,

very strange lyrics from the ether though.

'Lonely Girl/Man' was taken from an early poem

and is sung without any backing, it needs a girl

to sing one part, a typical folk club rendering.

l imagine it sung in the Scottish lsles or similar

 fishing community.
