Through the woods and lashing rain
Life's arrow speeds toward its aim
The winter night growing ever dim
Falls like a shroud upon the skin
Clinging to the face---testing the strength
Eager to claim once more, our souls in death
WILD GEESE
When the wild geese pass by
Beating their great wings in the sky
They follow an instinct beyond the earth
And as we stare at the skein in flight
Our own hearts beat in unison at the sight
MOON SHOT
On a night like this when the stars abound
A vehicle burst through the terrestrial girth
of mother earth----
And with an adieu it traveled on
Towards the glimmering aileron,
Till like a cell in celestial flight
It gently pulled apart--
Revealing two where there was one
As both encircled the lunar sun
Then like a stone one dropped away
Towards the surface fast--
Easing its thrust, when near moon dust
To slowly land-------At last.
MEADOW NYMPH
The morning dew caress the dawn
As fast you run the meadow wide
And as you reach the open door
Trembling----- like a gentle fawn
You linger on the threshold side
I beckon you to come to me
For in you lies my every wish
The golden smile upon your face.
But no you thrust away again
Out through the open door you go
Across the hills o'r fields and dales
To vanish in the morning sun
The next poem was written, after reading of an incident
during a war a few winters ago. It describes a bloody scene!
